It’s Fashion Week 2011 in New York City. Now through February 17th, designers are showing their collections for fall 2011. Runway shows are happening throughout the week-long event. If you’re a fashionophile like me, you can see many of the shows live via online streaming at the You Tube Live Runway sponsored by Maybelline. The live feeds will give you a sneak preview of what will be in the stores next fall and, perhaps, guide you as you switch over your wardrobe from winter to spring. (You might find that a garment you haven’t worn in years and that you were seriously thinking about giving the heave-ho is going to be in vogue in fall 2011. It’s happened to me before.)
There’s a little box on the right-hand side of the Maybelline site that gives a schedule of designer collections and live streaming times, which you can scroll through. Or go to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the event’s official website, for an easy-to-read schedule and links to all the designers’ websites. You may have to download the most recent version of Flash player, but that’s all you have to do to watch the live streaming.
One last note...If the show doesn’t start at the scheduled time, fear not. Some shows have started late—like 30 minutes late. I’ve linked on the site and then minimized the browser for a couple of shows. The show’s audio has told me when the show was starting and then I maximized the the browser to watch. If you don’t have time to tune in live, there are video clips of shows that have already taken place at the bottom of the Maybelline site.
