Styling Over 50: Animal Print Tops
Have you felt the call of the wild animal prints that are oh so fashionable again this season? For some time, I’ve wrestled with my instincts for animal print fashions. I worried that a leopard and zebra print, for example, might not flatter me, an over 50 woman. However, my comfort level has grown as I’ve seen more and more women over 50 on the street mixing animal prints into their look with great success. Their secret: pairing an animal print garment or accessory with solid pieces that pick up the shades from the print. It’s all about incorporating a bit of the wild without going "hog wild," if you will.
Take, for instance, the outfit from Pure Collection at the top of this post. I'm always looking for great weekend looks and this one is perfect for shaking off the work week. The outfit starts with the Cashmere-Animal-Print-Cardigan (was $208, now $166.40) above. When it comes to an animal print top, I strongly suggest you buy the best quality garment you can afford. You won't go wrong with cashmere, of course. Then, add a pair of dark denim jeans like the Slim-Leg-Jeans (was $128, now $102.40) pictured to keep the look playful. Add a light-colored belt like the Mock-Ostrich-Leather-Belt (was $68, now $54.50) and a dark handbag like the Pocket-Detail-Tote-Bag (was $394, now $315.20) and you're ready to hit the fall fairs in your area. You might even stuff the Cashmere-Infinity-Scarf (was $114, now $91.20) into your purse, if you live in a cooler climate, like I do.
