Vivien, Queen of the Over 60s?
Or will it be Tina? Or CJ Marie? A new documentary called QUEENS follows these three women as they rehearse for a New York City pageant. A pageant, that is, for women over 60. Vivien is 87 years old, Tina is 65, and CJ Marie squeaked by the contest’s age requirement at 60 years old. “It's a film about senior-aged women and how they relate to beauty, aging, and even loneliness,” wrote Kiran Alvi, one of the film’s producers, in a recent email.
Kiran and her friend and co-producer Eleonore Hamelin are currently fundraising for the project. They’d like you to take a peek at the movies’ trailer (above). They’re hoping the trailer and their kickstarter page will generate the funds needed to complete the documentary. “We're on a mission!” writes Kiran. “We want to show that women -- at even an older age -- have so much to share... and are worth a great film.” You can learn more about the film, the three contestants or make a contribution on the film’s Kickstarter page. If you have a minute, I’d love to know what you think of this project.
